Water Rates Within City Limits

Basic User Rate: $18.70 per month

Senior (age 65+ who have provided proof of age to the city clerk) Rate: $16.15 per month.

Wastewater Rates Within City Limits

Basic Rate: $40.30 per month.

Senior (age 65+ who have provided proof of age to the city clerk) Rate: $36.85 per month.

Garbage Collection Rates Within City Limits

Basic Rate: $9.00 per month.

Capital Improvement Fee

Basic Rate: $3.00 per month.

Fees Outside Corporate Boundaries

Water and sewer services provided to properties outside city limits will be charged double the resident rates.

Due Date

BILLS ARE DUE THE 20TH OF EACH MONTH, regardless of if you received the bill in the mail or not.

Bills may be paid monthly or they may be paid annually. Bills are due the 20th of the month. When the due date falls on Saturday, Sunday or a legal holiday, the date will be automatically extended to the first full business day following. When paid in person at city hall, a payment is considered timely if made for the full amount printed on the bill by noon (12:00 pm) on the 21st of the month. When mailing the payment, if it is received at the utility’s office not more than two full business days after the due date printed on the bill, the customer shall be deemed to have made timely payment. If the postmark of the payment, in which case, the payment shall be considered past due if the payment is postmarked after the due date printed on the bill.


Late Fees, Delinquent Bills and Disconnects

Late Fee: An initial bill will be sent which shall indicate that a late fee of $15.00.

Delinquent Bills: In the event charges for water/sewer service are not paid within 30 days after the due date, such charges shall be deemed delinquent. Also, the utility clerk is authorized to file such delinquents in the County Clerk and will be deemed notice of the lien for the payment of such charges.

Disconnect Procedures:  failure to pay water/sewer charges in a timely manner will result in discontinuance of water/sewer service.

  1. A written notice of delinquency and a notice of intention to disconnect water service shall be mailed or be delivered to the property by the Lanark police department.
  2. Five days after delivery, or eight days after mailing, of said notice the utility clerk will inform the public works manager to disconnect water service to the property the following business day.

To have services reconnected, the full amount past due plus a $35.00 reconnect fee.
